World Gets a New Pope

Last month Pope John Paul II died. While he was alive Bush asked him if he would be the Man of God for the New World Order. He declined, but the new Pope Benedict XVI was a former Nazi Youth until 1945, do you think he will accept the offer?

Ratzinger joined the Hitler Youth in 1941 when it became compulsory for all German boys. But he later served in the military during WWII manning an anti-aircraft gun. Millions of Germans were in a similar position to that of Joseph Ratzinger and his family, so why spend so much time focusing on him? Because it was possible to resist, and those resistors set an example for other Germans. AND because he is no longer merely Joseph Ratzinger, he is now Pope Benedict XVI. None of the other Germans who joined the Hitler Youth, were part of the military in Nazi Germany, lived near a concentration camp, and watched Jews being rounded up for death camps, has ever become pope. Pope John II resisted the Nazis, Ratzinger did not.

One of the lessons Pope Benedict XVI draws from the experiences of German Catholics living under the Nazis is that Catholics should become more obedient to their ecclesiastical leaders rather than adopting independent courses of action. Ratzinger believes greater fidelity to Catholic doctrine, as defined by the Vatican, is necessary to counter movements like Nazism.

The coming years will tell what role this noted right wing Pope will play if the New World Order comes to global power. If he accepts the offer to be the Man of God for the New World Government will he be another form of control over the hearts and minds of the people? Is he speaking out against the injustices of our current world like the last Pope did?

The Pope may get the offer to be the Man of God for the New World Order, but is GW willing to share.

America at war...!

The left says Bush lied to us and there is no reason to preemptively attack another nation. We must impeach!

In the middle we have the Democrats saying we need more troops to get the job done so our troops will not die in vain.

The right says we have an obligation to take care of the interests of this country and preserve our life-style even if it means attacking another country for oil.

Peak Oil? One man's apocolypse is another man's age of enlightenment -- Tivana

Is Terry Shiavo Going to Heaven?

"One thing that God has brought to us is Terri Schiavo to elevate the visibility of what's going on in America."

Tom DeLay, Congressman from Texas
House Republican Majority Leader
speaking to the "Family Research Council"

In the words of the Family Research Council it is "a nonprofit, nonpartisan, educational organization which reaffirms and promotes the traditional family unit and the Judeo-Christian value system." The first article is on activist judges and it is extrememly partisan.

The Born Against Christians have not slowed in their campaign to wage the ongoing culture wars and the Terri Schiavo episode fueled their enthusiasm to change America's culture. What Delay is talking about here is the culture war, ignored by the liberals and galvanizing the conservatives. On the firing line over the Terry Schiavo debate is the judicial branch of government. DeLay summoned the wrath of God upon extremist, activist Courts that ruled to allow Schiavo to be euthanized by the Power of Attorney of her husband.

"The time will come for the men responsible for this to answer for their behavior," said DeLay as warned the extremist judges. Is he calling upon St. Peter to judge them at the pearly gates or is he rallying the Christian right to take the moral high ground. The right wingers went wild and Sean Hannity began calling liberals anti-lifers on national TV. Imagine that, a man that supports a deadly, illegal war, that uses potent radioactive weapons, causing millions to suffer and die, calling liberals anti-lifers.

Then Bush stole the famous quote from John Paul II, "We are a culture of life" and used it in a speech after he decided to send in the troops to capture Schiavo's body. "We are a culture of life, a society where the strong protect the weak", he lamented as 100 State troopers went to the hospital to snatch the body. They were met by the local county Sheriffs and an interesting battle occurred. Local law and the Power of Attorney prevailed over state and federal demands and the troopers were sent packing with their tails betwen their legs. Watch for more of these battles as the Neo-cons use the culture war and the religious right to garner the support of enough people to change the laws of the land.

WARNING - liberals, DO NOT ignore these important battles by thinking they are mere distractions. They are the battles that are actually changing our culture and the laws of our country. The real war is about winning the hearts and minds of Americans and fooling them into the need to change our laws. In this case what was tested was local vs federal law and the srength of the Power of Attorney. For now, the people won.

In closing I find it humorous to picture this. A Born Against Christian dies and he is standing in line to see St. Peter. Finally he sees him and the man says, "tell me I'm going to heaven, I have been a good Christian all my life, tell me I'm going to heaven."

Peter looks down at the man and says, "Sir, there must be some confusion, you just came from heaven, this is the waiting room to get back in. Have you never heard the phrase Heaven on Earth?" - To Terry Schiavo, have a good rest and come back soon.

Dean Proposes to Bush

In a speech in Minnesota recently, Dean said, "The president has created an enormous security problem for the United States where none existed before. But I hope the president is incredibly successful with his policy now that he's there." Isn't Dean the anti-war candidate? He may as well ask Bush to marry him with as much love he has for Bush's Iraq war policy. His support for Bush is steering millions of Democrats in a disastrous direction - toward more war.

Our leaders are not telling us the truth about Iraq, it is not just about getting the troops out of Iraq successfully, it's about giving the country back to the Iraqis. Yes this illegal preemptive strike war is wrong, but it will not end until the US gives back the 192 Iraqi corporations that Powell sold off to the highest bidders in Madrid Spain in '03. Dean would better serve humanity by calling attention to the US war contracts that are funding gluttonous Free Market enterprises in the suppression of the Iraqi people. Contracts that are being paid for by the closing of schools in the US. The unmentioned problem with Iraq is the Pentagon Gravy Train that is robbing Americans blind.

"Profits are springing, like weeds, from the fields of the dead." -- Rosa Luxemburg

Where is the spine, where is the Democratic backbone that will stand up for America in its hour of need? Not coming from Howard Dean. "I hope the president is incredibly successful with his (Iraq) policy?" Is bullying Iran a part of the Bush policy that Dean supports?

"The US has to take a much harder line on Iran and Saudi Arabia because they're funding terrorism."
- Howard Dean, Forward, November 22, 2002

In case you missed this,
Negroponte Confirmed By Senate

The Senate confirmed John Negroponte as the country's first director of National Intelligence, giving him power over the nation's 15 spy agencies with oversight no longer coming from Congress, only from the president. The vote was 98-to-2. The only no votes came from two Democrat senators, Tom Harkin of Iowa and Ron Wyden of Oregon. Negroponte was the henchman for Kissinger's coup that installed Pinochet's reign of terror in Chile. He also was the leading henchman for the Contras reign of terror in Nicaragua and other assorted nefarious duties.

Where is the Democratic backbone that will bring people like Negroponte to justice instead of to power. Not one word was heard from Howard Dean, the new head of the Democratic Party. Instead Dean is focusing his speeches on supporting Bush's war. Is Dean courting disaster or courting his new love - tough-love War.

This was retreived from the Dean web site in October '03. It shows a clear connection and support between these two men. Dean's love affair with the world's evil-doers has no place in the leadership of the Democratic Party.

Letter to the editor on

US Empire Building

Dear Tribal Messenger,

I find that you comparing the United States to Nazi Germany very disturbing. In your slide show I noticed several misrepresentations of those photo's. How many people a day died in Iraq as a direct result of Sadaam and his thugs? How many people in Iraq suffered long term affects from the use of chemical and biological weapons that Sadaam used on his own people?

The United States is not in the business of "empire building" as you so eloquently put it. The only ground America has ever asked for was enough to bury our dead, who paid the ultimate price for their effort. I don't like Bush any better than you people do, I will freely admit that, however in our society the people spoke, they elected him, even if we think the whole thing was rigged...maybe in three more years we can all move on to better things. Please be more cautious about the way you portray this country, we have to live in the world too, you know. Thank you.

M. Bauer

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your comments.

Although I appreciate your patriotism I do not accept the notion that we must follow a leader blindly, even in times of war. I can see that you have not considered that the US could someday be the bad guy empire builder. It is only when we open our minds to the possiblities that we cannot be made fools. You sir, are being fooled and your blind patriotism is endangering the freedom of our country.

Bush and his cabal represent what Thomas Jefferson called domestic tyranny. We must be always vigilant of our country turning into a tryant state, and it is doubly wrong to ignore the possiblity or the signs.

To compare the US to Nazi Germany is not hard once you understand the disturbing parallels. We must learn from history by not appeasing George Bush or ignoring him. The plan for global empire is spelled out in the Project for a New American Century (PNAC) which is now commonly called the "Bush Doctrine". The flowery idealism in this doctrine is also a parallel to Hitler who waxed equally eloquent about peace and a better world. History proves that such rhetoric when combined with blind patriotism can be a trick, and the way of fools.

As far as Saddam Hussein goes - he was a bad guy just like all the other bad guys the US has created to reign terror upon the people of this world - Sukarno, Samoza, Marcos, Pinochet and on and on. It is an old trick to create an enemy to justify war. But this time we cannot afford to allow this madness to continue because the illegal weapons of mass destruction that the US is using in Iraq are just too deadly. Radioactive poisoning from Uranium weapons is a threat to our existence. Bush is a hypocrite for talking of peace while using such weapons of mass destruction and his followers are his fools.

"Democracy requires citizens who will think for themselves and insist that the government uphold the principles it is supposed to stand for." -- Howard Zinn, May, '05

Rush Limbaugh speaks out

Dateline 1988 | "And now the liberals want to stop President Reagan from selling chemical warfare agents and military equipment to Saddam Hussein, and why? Because Saddam 'allegedly' gassed a few Kurds in his own country. Mark my words. All of this talk of Saddam Hussein being a 'war criminal' or 'committing crimes against humanity' is the same old thing.
LIBERAL HATE SPEECH!

And speaking of poison gas . . . I SAY WE ROUND UP ALL THE DRUG ADDICTS AND GAS THEM."

Does this mean Rush should be gassed?

The Real ID Card

So I was out fighting the War on Terror and I didn't get very far. I was looking to the left and searching to the right and I didn't find any terrorists. I didn't even figure out who the terrorists were, and when I was done all I got was this lousy National ID card. What is this REAL ID card? If I support the card am I getting rid of terrorists or am I getting rid of my liberty? I think I remember someone telling me I was attacked by terrorists because they wanted my liberty. It would reason therefore that the people taking away my liberty would be the terrorists, right?

It makes no sense to give up my liberty for the sake of protecting my liberty. Will I get my liberty back when we find out who the terrorists are? Do they wear turbans and have beards, or do they look like Timothy McVeigh and live in Wisconsin and cut cheese?

The House passed the REAL ID act by a vote of 368-58. The Senate passed the new driver's license (Real ID) rules tucked away in the $82 billion Iraq war bill. Another stealth bill that changes our lives forever AND the payment for the new licenses will be the burden of the states - less money for our schools. States will have three years to obey the rules. If they don't, their residents won't be able to board planes or enter federally protected buildings, etc.

This act overrides the Intelligence Reform Act of 2004 which allowed states and public interest groups to negotiate the rules of the new law. Now all the rules will be set by the Department of Homeland Security guided by executive (presidential) directives. George Bush is acting more like King George III, the man we fought the Revolutionary War against.

To sweeten the deal for the right wingers, the bills author, Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-WI., put in a promise to make it easier to deport terrorists. Are we having a problem deporting terrorists? How hard is it to deport a terrorist? Are the terrorists the ones without any Real ID? I know I have to have an ID card and a passport, a credit card, and a picture ID to live here. Do illegal immigrants have to have all these papers in order? Maybe it would be easier to leave the country and come back as an illegal immigrant.

This REAL ID card is the outreach mechanism for gathering and disseminating info on my life. The Carnivore software collects all my data and puts it into a huge database. This software has been getting planted on servers all over the world through Anti-Terror treaties. We now have Anti-Terror treaties with Asia and East Europe and most of what Bush calls the New Democracies. Information sharing is the core of the treaties and soon my life will be a part of an international database, shared with police and inspectors the world over. What information will be in the database: my criminal, driving, medical, and credit records, in short, the history of ME. Why do they need my credit report, do terrorists not pay their bills?

In three years, the time it will take for the new card to come online, I will be profiled along with the terrorists and sometimes I will be mixed in with them as Sen. Kennedy was when he discovered he was on the terrorist no-fly list and could not get on a plane. But what chills my brain is when Big Brother Ashcroft set the tone of our new found paranoia in his first roundup. He claimed that some of these people may have been thinking about becoming a terrorist. Bam, I could be profiled and detained for maybe thinking about becoming a terrorist. No wonder we don't know who the terrorists are, the terrorists don't even know who they are. Thank you Ashcroft and now Gonzalez for helping me discover my true self and for letting me know if I am thinking about becoming a terrorist or not and for saving me from myself.

See this story (one of many examples of people getting detained for thinking they might want to be a terrorist) on Mr. US Citizen Enemy Combatant Padilla who was detained for thinking about being a terrorist a few years back. The story is on Reason.com

According to my profile I will be assigned a color: green, yellow, or red, but they never tell me what color I am, they only tell me which line to get in for my inspection. I guess terrorists like to travel, they like to fly. I must be a yellow, every time I fly I end up in the line with the moms with strollers and the wire-bra grandmothers. They drill us pretty good.

The Real ID Card is almost here, celebrated by the right as a way to control the aliens and shunned by the left because of the loss of our liberty. Local DMV offices will continue and appear to be state offices, but they will now be agents of the federal government. The man that grades you on your parallel parking will also determine if you are a member of Al Queda. The DMV will be charged with issuing a national identity document without which a person will be unable to function in America or in the New World Order.

Are your papers in order?

The Bush Doctrine
Ruffles Russian Feathers

May 3, 2005 | Prior to visiting Russia, the Bush Doctrine proceeded him, Russia was more than amused. The concept of the Bush Doctrine is simple, the US is a free country and we will export the American brand of freedom over the whole globe. Bush claimed that the three Baltic countries of Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia were occupied by Russia after WWII and he thinks Russia should apologize. Russia claims those states willingly joined the U.S.S.R.

Bush let Russia know what was in their best interest with these comments:
"It really is in Russia's interests to have free countries and democracies on her border," he said. "The more democracies on the border of a country, the more peaceful a country will be."

When the US is rapidly losing its democracy and becoming a war loving, totalitarian dictatorship, the US is in no way capable of lecturing the world that an American style democracy leads to peace.

"I believe Russia's interests lie to her west," Bush said. "I believe that Russia, by embracing the values that we share, will be able to deal with the many problems that she has."

But Moscow IS adopting American values: Russia is making money off selling weapons to wage war to Syria and Venezuela, they are manipulating industry and finance into being regimented by the state (the Yukos oil siezure), and consolidating power into the Kremlin.

Meanwhile Bush hails the Baltic states as some of the world's most inspiring young democracies. The truth is, they are the core of the New World Order in Europe and as Rumsfeld calls them the New Europe the Russians are concerned about US imperialism.

Hunter Thompson Commits Suicicde?

Hunter Thompson's last words:

"They're gonna make it look like suicide, I know how these bastards think . . ."

On Feb. 19, the night before his death, Hunter telephoned reporter Paul Roberts of the Toronto Globe and Mail and he sounded scared. He'd been working on a story about the World Trade Center attacks and had stumbled across what he felt was hard evidence showing the towers had been brought down not by the airplanes but by explosive charges set off in their foundations. Now he thought someone was out to stop him from publishing it.

The list of mysterious suicides during Bush's reign grows ever longer. When will it end? This year Tto top US anti-establishment writers have 'committed suicide' and mainstream TV, Radio and newspapers only report the official version of events, that they were suicides. Hunter S. Thompson & Gary Webb were not suicidal. However, both were threats to the establishment.

Gary Webb broke the CIA/cocaine smuggling ring story in the San Jose Mercury News in 1995. In January '05 he managed to shoot himself in the head when committing suicide - twice!

England Pleads Guilty to Abuse Charges

When I first read the headline I thought that England was coming clean and would no longer be in denial about torturing its Iraqi prisoners. Could the US be soon to follow? Then my heart sank a little as I remembered that the name of the scapegoat for the Abu Graib tortures was a woman named England not the country. As I followed the story I then had to guess at which Lynndie England is on trial.

Was it the, "I was just following orders," England from a year ago?

Or was it the England that was innocent because she was deprived of oxygen at birth, was speech impaired and had trouble learning. According to the prosecutors - defense plea bargain, she was acting on her own amusement and was not capable of knowing better. Her lawyer said, "because of her oxygen deprivation her ability to reason was lower than that of her comrades."

Or was it the England that pleaded guilty to prisoner abuse and she thought that the pictures of the abuse were being taken purely for the amusement of the guards.

Or the England that went through the declaration of a mistrial by judge Pohl on reasons that her testimony countered the previous testimony of her fellow abuser Pvt. Garner who testified that he thought the Abu Graib pictures were meant to be used as a legitimate training aid for other guards. Oops! They disagree.

"You can't have a one-person conspiracy," the judge said before he declared a mistrial. By rejecting the plea to the conspiracy charge, Pohl canceled the entire plea agreement. Pohl did not mention any of the other 6 charges and said, "Under military law, the judge can formally accept her guilty plea only if he was convinced that she knew at the time that what she was doing was illegal."

So England gets off? After redefining what a kangaroo court is, this woman, the scapegoat for Abu Graib, our best chance for justice, our country's best opportunity to save face in the eyes of the world, gets off? No jail time, no crime, now the US and the country of England are free to continue their abuse of prisoners. Does this win over the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people, do we care or do we want them to fear us not love us?

This is Iraqi artist, Salah, portraying the US statue of liberty as a torturer. Countries are ultimately judged on how they treat their prisoners and on how they treat their scapegoats. This image illustrates how the world is judging America. In the eyes of the world, what the US is doing in Iraq is not creating liberty it is torturing freedom. One can only hope that whole countries will come out of their denial and come clean about their abusive behavior to their fellow man.

Power of Nightmares airs in London

The BBC's 'Power of Nightmares' TV series has aired in the last month and it shows the stark contrast in beliefs between the Europeans and Americans. Here we have the Brits mainstream airing a well documented and logically sound boadcast on the event that is the excuse to change our lives - 9/11. The powerful series illustrates that the War on Terror is a deception. The Neo-Conservatives in the US have, through the CIA, been creating and funding Moslem extremists since the 1970's. They invented Al Quaeda to replace the Cold War climate of fear.

This broadcast depicts how the war on terror is a fabricated myth. If you like to be played for a fool by your government then do not watch this broadcast because it will awaken you from your false sense of security. This documentary shifts the blame of terrorism away from Arabs and onto the Neo-Cons. Al Queda is a myth? The Arab terrorists are make believe? The most powerful nation in the world is being played for fools? How could this be?

Grassroots Activists Spur Historic Call to Exit Iraq

by William Rivers Pitt

At the recent California State Democratic Party Convention in Los Angeles, the largest gathering of state-party Democrats in the nation, activists with Progressive Democrats of America successfully lobbied 2,000 delegates to pass a resolution calling for the termination of the occupation of Iraq. The resolution included specific language demanding the withdrawal of American troops from that country.

"The California Democratic party calls for the termination of the occupation...of American troops in Iraq."

This victory is a powerful statement not only to the national Democratic party but to the Republican administration and the majority in Congress.

Science:
Plants Can Fix Bad Genes

A team of scientists at Purdue University has discovered a mechanism in plants that allows them to correct defective genes from their parents by tapping into an ancestral data bank of healthy genetic material.

It has been learned that plants can travel back up the evolutionary path and tap into and use past genes to restore traits that would otherwise be lost.

"We think this demonstrates that there's this parallel path of inheritance that we've overlooked for 100 years, and that's pretty cool," said Robert Pruitt, a professor of plant pathology at Purdue University.

Molecular studies indicated that the plants harbored "memories" of versions of their genetic code going back at least four generations. Plants can somehow use these codes as templates to correct the spelling of mutated DNA. Just as plants can go back to their ancestors for blueprints to correct their mutations, I think of the metaphor of humans going back to their ancestors for cultural blueprints on how to get it right so we can live together and not annhilate ourselves.

In a time when the Christian right has framed the evolution debate with the phrase, "Intelligent design or cosmic chance" we have scientists upending prevailing genetic theory, the core of evolutionary theory. I like the comparison between the two life kingdoms, plant and human, pulling wisdom from their ancestors. I do not, however, trust humanity manipulating nature with an intelligent design - genetically modifying organisms for profit. Now that is chancy.

Norwegian Arctic Town
Gets Energy From the Moon

In a novel use of clean energy, the world's most northerly town receives its electricity from a sub-sea power station run on tidal currents tugged by the moon.

"We are the first in the world to use tidal currents to generate electricity to be fed into the local grid," said Harald Johansen, managing director of Hammerfest Stroem.

A tidal current in a sea channel near the town, caused by the gravitational tug of the moon on the earth, turns the 10-meter blades of a turbine bolted to the seabed to generate electricity for the local grid.

The prototype looks like an underwater windmill and is expected to generate about 700,000 kilowatt hours of non-polluting energy a year, or enough to light and heat about 30 homes. If successful, the project will herald far wider use of predictable tides in the green energy industry.

Myth Busters -
Restive Iraq

Myth - only three Iraqi provinces are having trouble with terrorists so why does the press focus on just the few? The rest of Iaq is peaceful, they should mention the good news from Iraq.

Myth buster - just because you call an area restive does not mean it is a peaceful. There are over 2,500 attacks on coalition forces each month all over the country. All coalition forces are fighting and dying on a daily basis all over Iraq. There have been 177 deaths in other parts of Iraq involving other countries - from the Dep't of Defense - http://icasualties.org/oif/

Myth Busters -
Wealth and poverty

We need to stop talking about the problems of poverty and start tlaking about the problems of richness. Myth - People talk about the causes of poverty being: a culture of poverty, laziness, unemployment, lack of education, poor health, discrimination, or a global issue such as IMF predatory loans - see Causes of Poverty

Myth buster - we always talk about the problem of poverty, we never seem to talk about the problem of wealth. The myth of the Free Market Capitalists is that by creating pillars of wealth, it will spread out to the rest of the population. The "Trickle-Down Theory" comes with a price - human suffering. Wealth does not spread out when it is hoarded. Hoarded wealth only raises the cost of living not the standard of living for society. To break the myth we must study the problems of richness, the wealth gap, and the poverty created by greed in a non-equalitarian society.

"No President has ever done more for human rights than I have." -- George Bush
It occurred to me that he did not say whether it was positive or negative.

I read this story about Bush being praised in Georgia as a freedom lover and I had to reflect on what kind of freedom are we talking about. I am living in a country that has an agency that gets awards for spying on its citizens. I live in a country that has a national ID card that records if I miss a credit card payment. I live in a country that allows big companies to sue me if I miss a payment but I can't sue them. It makes me want to warn these people in Georgia to STOP, turn around, Bush freedom is a hoax!
