"We belong to our land. We don't belong to the foreigners that want to screw us over. Even though the government attacks us, even though they wage low- intensity wars that affect our people, we will resist."

"They want to ransack everything, but we're not going to let them. We will fight to the end." Two campesinos from Chiapas at the anti- WTO protest in Cancun.

The World Trade Organization or WTO was made a household word at the 1999 Seattle protests. Since that time millions of people around the world are recognizing that the WTO is a doorway to the evils of the Market Economy.

The Market Economy means that people need more and more money to survive. As the people become more dependent upon money for their survival those that control the money gain more power over the people. The trend is people are working more with fewer rewards - poverty is the what much of the world is seeing as a result to the market economy.

There were 4,700-delegates at the WTO. That is a large meeting, I hope they all had time to smoke the peace pipe.

In Cancun Mexico the WTO met for the fifth time. The United States was the bully dictating to the poor countries that it will be our way or else. 22 countries walked out in protest.

The Globalization of the Market Economy effects everyone on the planet. A desparation is being felt by everyone. You can sense it, something is not right with the world and you can feel that something big is happening. This something BIG is more and more of thepeople of the world are feeling the ill effects of this new economy, onw that creates poverty to the degree that the poor are not surviving.

Protestors from around the world tell us that there is a lot more to the WTO that we should all pay attention to.

This Korean protester cries after hearing the news of the death of a colleague. A korean man committed suicide in protest to Globalization.

200 people, wearing dolphin hats fashioned from foam, protest the death of the oceans due to wanton, uncontrolled fishing of our oceans. The planet is dying due to the lust for profits.

A big part of treaties like NAFTA is it opens the door for larger companies to drive small companies out of business. The unethical practice of product dumping is one way that it is done. This is a protest against the dumping of subsidized American cotton on the world market and thus driving farmers in the third world out of business.

The current round of trade liberalization negotiations sees the rich and poor nations facing off over agricultural subsidies. The US wants to allow government subsidies for our corporate farms so they can dump their products on foreign markets chealply enough to take these markets over. The poor countries are saying this may be free trade but it is not fair trade.

The Koreans have played a big role in protesting the WTO.

The fences -----

There were two fences to tear down. The second one was much stronger than the first. On one side are the police, the other side is people of the world. The fence is a symbol of repression and the people want their freedom.

Tear down the fence, tear down the walls. It is time for a NEW WORLD.

The angst of the people stems from the fact that millions have been forced into the Market Economy its subsequent poverty. Back home in America we are led to believe that our way of life is helping the people of the world to have a better life. They are in fact working to make our cheap clothing and consumable goods. Outsourcing is taking over the wrold as factories scramble to hire the next cheap labor force. Cheap labor is created from extreme poverty, wars, economic collapse, and natural disasters.

The people square off with the police - the defenders of unethical business practices.

The two sides -- the people and the people hired to police themselves.

Protesters strike riot police with sticks after breaking through a blockade on the access road to the Cancun hotel district.

Anger meets anger and the melee is on. The police supporters of the wealthy nations get paid to defend an oppressive system. In Venezuela the military changed sides and the people won the day. Will other countries follow?

Will the entrenched system continue to make more profits and more money inflating the cost of living for the entire world?

STOP the WTO! STOP the Globalization of the Market Economy !!!!

Salvadoran women marching -- be heard, let your voices rise up together to stop the beast of poverty.
